Dr. Jenna Hamra

Physical Therapist

Dr. Jenna Hamra is a licensed physical therapist and certified personal trainer dedicated to lifelong learning and helping patients become the best version of themselves, both physically and mentally.

She earned her undergraduate degree in health and exercise science from Bridgewater College and a Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of Maryland, Baltimore.

Jenna is passionate about building meaningful connections with her patients and strives to make every individual feel heard, valued, and empowered. She believes that communication is the foundation of successful therapeutic relationships, allowing her to provide personalized care that helps individuals achieve their goals and return to the activities they love.

As a former collegiate athlete, Jenna understands the importance of movement and performance and continues to pursue her passion for fitness through strength training, beach volleyball, and a growing love for sprint triathlons.

Outside of the clinic, she enjoys spending time with her cats, exploring nature, and searching local coffee shops for a good chai tea.

Heather McAusland

Clinic Operations Manager

Growing up in Arnold, MD, Heather developed a passion for the water, which led her to enjoy boating, paddleboarding, and relaxing on the beach. After earning a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Towson University, she relocated to the Washington, DC area.

She now resides in Falls Church, VA. Her professional experience includes sales support in telecommunications and operations within government contracting at a cybersecurity company.

Staying active is a priority— she works with a trainer regularly, participates in a running group, and practices yoga. Additional interests include attending live music events, traveling, and spending quality time with friends and family.

Casey Higgins

Marketing and Community Outreach Manager

A former Division I field hockey athlete, Casey has long been passionate about helping others live active, healthy lives. She earned her degree in Exercise Science with a minor in Sports Management from Old Dominion University.

At Zia, Casey builds meaningful relationships to engage and grow our community around women’s health and performance.

She is also the co-founder of Cru Collective, which provides nutrition coaching and supports individuals and families in building sustainable, fitness-forward lifestyles.

Originally from Northeast Pennsylvania, Casey now lives in Stafford, Virginia, with her husband and their three children. Outside of work, she enjoys CrossFit, staying active with her family, and embracing a lifestyle centered on movement, nutrition, and lifelong learning.

Sara Black

PT, DPT, CSCS, CAPP-Pelvic

A Richmond native and former NCAA Division I swimmer at East Carolina University, Sara Black brings a performance-driven lens to pelvic health physical therapy. She earned her B.S. in Exercise Physiology before working as a certified personal trainer and a licensed massage therapist, which shaped her integrated, whole-body approach to care.

Sara received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Lynchburg University and now specializes exclusively in pelvic health and related orthopedic conditions. She has completed the full CAPP-Pelvic certification series through the Academy of Pelvic Health Physical Therapy and is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.

She works with active women navigating pelvic floor dysfunction, pregnancy and postpartum recovery, and complex pelvic pain—helping them return to strong, confident, and capable movement. Her approach blends targeted exercise, movement retraining, and nervous system strategies with clear, collaborative care.

Sara is also the founder of The Triathlete Project, supporting endurance athletes in training and competing safely and effectively.

Outside the clinic, she competes in triathlons, runs, and spends time outdoors hiking and backpacking with her dogs, Frankie and Chola.
